Each component is developed with advanced design, quality control and machining tools to ensure maximum performance under all conditions. In the technical department, all component design and development activities are carried out through the use of advanced 3D CAD software and collaboration among engineers, draughtsmen and technical specialists. Every detail is studied with precision, from the concept stage to final definition, with the goal of ensuring high performance, reliability and innovation in products.

Piston blanks can be made through two different manufacturing processes: gravity casting, in which liquid metal is poured into a mold by weight alone, or hot forging, in which the metal is mechanically compressed at a high temperature to achieve a denser and stronger structure.

Pistons are produced following specific processes defined according to the application, all machine tools are are numerical control (CNC) and connected (CAM) with the engineering department interacting to exchange programs and survey productivity and quality.

The piston shape is designed and machined to provide a profile that works effectively in the engine, in tune with the required performance. The resulting shape is a combination of ellipse and dropped shapes depending on the diameter and thickness in the specific area.

The piston profile is usually theoretically defined and then refined by engine testing. The mold finishing operation is carried out with modern high-precision machines enslaved by state-of-the-art computers.

VP ITALY has been working with ISO9001 certification since way back in 1997 and is always involved in the “continuous improvement process.”

Recently, the “zero paper project” was initiated in which, thanks to collaboration with the industry expert Leader company, all quality records (dimensional checks, x / r graphs, etc.) are automatically recorded on electronic files and no longer on paper. The resulting, batch-specific certification is forwarded to customers upon request and kept in the company’s archives for at least 5 years.
